We work together to maintain a productive, sustainable operation and raise beef we are proud to feed our own family and yours. Duane and Lana, Tayla, Damen and Morgan are happy to deliver quality beef and an exceptional eating experience.
Duane and Lana work full time on the ranch. Duane is the Cow Boss, and oversees every aspect of the ranch operations from health and welfare of the cattle, to nutrition and pasture management, farming, genetics and marketing.
Lana is the Office Boss, and ensures that the ranch is up to date on certifications and verifications, ensures health and safety protocols are followed, feeding programs are tracked and recorded, traceability programs are tracked and incoming and outgoing cattle are recorded.

Tayla manages the website, the back end ordering and all of the marketing, social media and design for Hale Ranch Beef. She and Charles, a trained chef, are always looking for ways to create new recipes and help our customers get the most out of the beef that they' are buying.

The Ranch
The ranch near Bassano boasts sprawling grasslands and acres of native and tame pasture, and farm land to grow the forage and grains for our cattle to grow healthy and strong. The home place was purchased by Hales in 2002, and we have been working to create an even better place to raise cattle and families.
Our ranch is built around stress-free handling of our animals, and cattle spend their entire lives here on our ranch. We move cattle on horseback and always move cattle calmly and quietly. We are committed to the sustainable management of our land and water resources, to leave them in better condition than when we got here. Our ranch and our family are proud to be working towards a certifications and verifications on animal health and welfare and sustainability.
The Cattle
Our cattle are born, raised, fed and cared for on our ranch through their entire lives. We have worked to develop a breeding program that boast quality genetics for cattle who produce strong, healthy calves and well-marbled, high-grading beef.
We don’t use added hormones on our ranch, however we know it’s a perfectly safe practice that many ranchers use in their operation. We are committed to the health and welfare of our cattle, so we do occasionally use antibiotics for cattle who need a little help. But don’t fret: all beef that comes from our ranch, and every ranch in Canada - is antibiotic-free when you consume it. We take great care to make sure that our animals are managed in a way where antibiotics are medically necessary, and to ensure that we follow strong protocols for withdrawal periods to ensure antibiotic-free beef.
The Beef
Beef is a nutrient powerhouse. Very few foods can match the nutrient density of beef. Beef is a concentrated source of nutrients providing a variety of essential vitamins and minerals for a small amount of food and modest number of calories. Beef is a powerful nutritional package.
For example: one cooked serving of 100g of beef has as much protein as 5 ½ servings (30g each) of almonds – approx. ¾ of a cup!
For the same amount of iron in 1 serving of beef, you would need to eat 7 times the amount of salmon, for the same amount of vitamin B12 you would need to eat 7 times the amount of chicken, and for an equivalent amount of zinc, you would need to eat 10 eggs.
